Cavo Varus Foot – Dr. Mangal’s Speciality Clinic
Cavo Varus Foot, also called Cavovarus Foot, is a foot deformity where the arch of the foot is abnormally high (cavus) and the heel tilts inward (varus). This combination puts extra pressure on the ball and outer edge of the foot, leading to instability and discomfort. The condition may develop due to neurological disorders, muscle imbalance, previous injuries, or may be present from childhood
Types of Cavo Varus Foot We Treat
- Flexible Cavo Varus – The foot can still move into a normal position when pressure is applied. Common in early stages or mild cases.
- Rigid Cavo Varus –The arch and heel position remain fixed and cannot be corrected manually. Usually more severe and may require surgery
- Neuro muscular Cavo Varus –Caused by neurological conditions such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, polio, or muscular dystrophy leading to muscle imbalance
- Post-Traumatic Cavo Varus – Develops after injuries like fractures, severe ankle sprains, or tendon damage
- Congenital Cavo Varus –Present from birth due to abnormal bone or muscle development
